Renee Williams, M. Ed

Director, Community and International Training and Development

Director, Intersession                                                                    

Renee Williams is the Director of Intersession and the Director for Community and International Training and Development (CITD). She received both her Master of Education and Bachelor of Science from the University of Oklahoma and is also a certified fitness instructor. Williams has previously worked at the University of Oklahoma as an academic advisor for the Michael F. Price College of Business and Director of Academic Programs for Aviation.

In her role with Intersession, Williams coordinates with faculty and administrative departments to offer credit courses to nearly 4,000 University of Oklahoma students three times a year. With CITD, Williams oversees the development and delivery of academic programs with the Colleges of Education, Architecture and Arts and Sciences for University Outreach College of Continuing Education. Additionally, she is responsible for the Medieval Fair, the Advanced Placement Summer Institute, China Outreach as well as the administration of grants & contracts with public, private and government agencies.

Williams brings more than a decade of higher education and corporate experience to her roles. While with Rutgers University, she served as Assistant Dean for the School of Arts and Sciences which worked with nearly 23,000 students and as the Assistant Director of the Mathematical Finance Graduate Program. In this role she was the corporate liaison to Wall Street companies such as Morgan Stanley, J.P. Morgan and Standard & Poor. Williams additionally contributes successful experience in the areas of fundraising, corporate sales and classroom instruction from a variety of academic areas.

Ann Marie Eckart

Ann Marie Eckart

Coordinator, Medieval Fair

Ann Marie Eckart is the coordinator of the Medieval Fair, a department within University of Oklahoma Outreach. She received a bachelor’s degree in business administration and communications from the University of Central Oklahoma.

Eckart brings to OU an extensive and diverse background. At the Kansas City Renaissance Festival she was the apprentice program coordinator, training and supervising entry level performers. For Alliant Foodservice, she worked in accounting, contracts, margin management and also as the food show coordinator for their annual trade show. As a customer service manager at Wal-Mart she managed employees, scheduling and customer conflict resolution. While developing her professional career and skills over the last 20 years, she has also been involved with the Medieval Fair of Norman as a performer, vendor, volunteer and vendor jury member. Three years before accepting the position as the Medieval Fair coordinator in November of 2010, she was the assistant to former coordinator Linda Linn.

Sammi Fields Sammi Fields

Program Assistant

Sammi Fields has been employed at the University of Oklahoma since 1993 and has worked for University Outreach since 2002. Her responsibilities include providing program support for credit and noncredit programs and maintaining the department’s accounting and payroll functions. Prior to coming to University Outreach, Fields was employed by Disability and Judicial Services at OU.

Julia HicksSharon Gou

Coordinator, China Outreach

Sharon Gou is the director of the China Outreach Institute and OU Confucius Institute. As the director of the China Outreach Institute, Gou connects the educational resources of OU to China The institute also supports and enhances current Chinese business partnerships with University of Oklahoma Outreach and the continuing development of business partnerships through training and development. Gou is responsible for the administration of training programs with public, private, and government agencies such as TsingHua University, Zhejiang University, SMIC International School, Zhejiang Technology University of Economics, China Association for International Exchange of Personnel, State Administration of Work Safety, PetroChina Limited, and China National Offshore Oil Corporation.


Prior to coming to OU, Gou worked as a business analyst at Nortel Networks in Raleigh, NC and as a quality control manager/engineer in City of Beijing’s Cultural and Historic Preservation Bureau. Gou also volunteers as the principal of Oklahoma ABC Chinese School in Norman and is the adviser for the Society of Chinese Scholars and Students at OU.


Sharon has an MBA, Business Administration, from East Carolina University, and a UNC BS, Civil and Industrial Engineering, from Northwest Institute, China.
